my daughter got her license....

Well, my teen daughter got her license yesterday, and as a mom it is a "wake up" call for me. I had to stop and think and ask myself where did the time go? I can remember her sitting in her yellow cozy coupe in the middle of the kitchen and eatting her dinner thru the openings...sound familiar to anyone out there....well, my post is a reflection of my "baby" time as a mom, and a note to others to enjoy the little silly things your kids do, because the time flies, and then the insurance bill comes to pay for the real wheels...

So well said. We have only had 4 years, but she is growing up so quickly. Where does the time go?

Ah....no cell....focus on the road.

PS - don't ask for the keys until spring....we're talking at least six months of probation. Dad is a 2008 version of Ward Cleaver, if you know what I mean.

Cindyo,
Well, hopefully she will be a careful driver and obey the rules.....especially the cell phone thing. I drive a lot for my job and use a hands free device, not advocating talking while driving, but I see more people making mistakes that have a cell phone attached to their heads then ever before....
The winter thing is a good way to go also Ward.....keep her on probation through the winter....

Way to go Cleaver! I know your dd is responsible, it is just the snow and ice that cannot be trusted. We won't even go into the crazy demented vindictive snow plow drivers.

Drivng age here is only 16. Legislators cannot read death statistics . Parents do not know how to say "no" and are too lazy to drive their kids where they need to go.

We are prepping dd for driving when she turns 18 and a "permit" maybe at 17.

Rob O, you sort of remind me of red on "That 70's Show". I would suggest an early 80's mercedes 300d as a first car. Seriously. Built like a tank, good mpg, reliable, practical, and will last forever.

I bought my first car and dd will have to also....that is, unless she needs one to drive to college (which is a possibility as one of her choices is very local). There will be no car before high school graduation...even if she can afford it.

I will happily drive her anywhere. After six months of driving experience, she may be allowed to drive my car under certain circumstances.
