also been there done that....
yes you never want to have an attack like that ever again. I had lap surgery, I haven't hear much of people having to have the old time surgery... Have faith that you will have the lap, and able to enjoy you vacation in aruba!!!

You REALLY do not want to rip your internal stitches.
I was out of work for 3 weeks because I did heavy lifting at my job. Tell your doctor the HEAVIEST thing you will be lifting will be a frozen concoction. ![]()

Imo, that soon afterward, it will depend upon any pain from your "outside" stitches. BUT as long as someone else is driving, that is what pain meds are for.
All in all my gall bladder surgery was much much easier than my sinus surgery, three eye surgeries and two foot surgeries. Either way the pain will not be as bad as the "heart attack" like pain from the attack(s). ![]()
