The Olympics

Are you going to watch? Do you care? Going to boycott? Just cannot get excited about Olympics being held in the smog.

Andrea have you had time to watch the US swim trials?

I prefer the winter games, but I will still watch. I think it is great that the games are in China; a lot of people have a lot of misconceptions about China and her peoples and the "back stories" that the networks show will only help to educate.

I am aware that the smog has gotten worse in the last few years but I found it to be no worse than Mexico City or the LA basin on a bad day.

I can respect anybody that wants to boycott because of the Tibetian issue or other human rights causes, but I hope that the folks who do also boycott Walmart

Acouple of random facts:
72% of shoes sold in U.S. are made in China
85% of artificial Christmas trees
80% of toys
11% of all goods mfgd in China are sold at Wallmart
China has become the #1 market for RollsRoyce

i am totally not intersted in the china olympics due to the atrocities (taiwan situation) but i will watch the swimming and diving and synchronized (synchronized is my true love)

yup have seen some of the trials of swimming

those new speedo bionic bathing suits are causing "artificial speed"
new world records being set and broken at record pace due to the bathing suits.

one of my former swimmers, jenny thompson, is an olympic medal swimmer i was her coach one summer at swim camp, when she was a kid in age group swimming. never in my wildest imagination did i think her straight armed sloppy freestyle would lead her to a medal!

i have no idea how the swimmers crawl/manuever into the suits.
i think, they lie down and someone from speedo comes and spray paints them onto the swimmer's bodies

China: An Olympic Loss for Industry
Strict limits on production during the Games will be felt across the Mainland—and by consumers abroad

I just read the above article this afternoon and there are just SO...many reasons why the Olympics should not have been held in China.

BTW, some in the world talk of US citizens being egocentric. Check out the guy in the article who has two cars in order to avoid the "odd", "even" driving rules.

I understand it is a cultural thing, but...
Dog meat off the menu during Beijing Olympics

Remember, white wine with Poodles; I would go for a nice Merlot with my slab of Lab.
