Olympics in Vancouver

Love Canada; Vancouver looks very nice. That said, why would you locate a Winter Olympics at a venue that was removed from the World Cup circuit because it rains too often? Maybe they didn't notice the Pacific Ocean when they looked at the map?

Move them to Calgary....quick!

I know little about Canada, but from the bit I have been following the Olympics, Whistler where most of the downhill events are being held, is 78 miles north of Vancouver. Evidently according to this chart, Whistler is suffering from above average temps.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistler,_British_Columbia#Climate Winter is their wet season, but not cold enough for snow.

One of the guys on my hockey team broke his leg skiing Whistler a couple years ago. He's been back at least once since then, he loves the area.

Chadd, you still play hockey? Good for you.....I'm retired from the game but it was the best. BTW, which Province are you from?

Whistler is georgeous, it's just too warm.

From my understanding the weather was so warm...and rainy they had to truck snow in for the beginning of the games....I agree robO...seems silly to me to have a winter sport in an area that can rain enough to turn the snow to a mountain stream ?????!!!!!

Gosh I love Vancouver! I was there about 3 years ago. The skiing was phenomenal!!!! I really want to go back! Too bad the snow had to be shipped in. When we were there in February we got 20 in. in one nite!!!! Hoping to go back soon with the whole fam!

R.I.P. Nodar Kumaritashvili. You died doing what you love! The world will miss you!

I still play once a week or more, if I'm home. We have a guy on our team that just turned 63 a few months back, so I have a long time to go before I'm done. I'm from Pennsylvania and while it is provincial, it doesn't quite qualify as a province.

I am sick of the figure skating....too repetitive.

Not enough of the skiing events.

i was glad to see the chinese couple win the "pairs" figure skating.
they are in their 30's and it was their time FINALLY!

agree that watching skating gets old pretty fast.
