All of our cats were taken in as strays from our backyard. The exception of Gasper and Mickey who were our "first" and adopted from PetSmart. Gasper (named after Gasparito Restaurant) was rescued from a dumpster and Mickey was given up as a kitten by an apartment dwelling owner with too many cats.
Tiggy has renal failure (CRF) and receives sub-Q fluids daily and Rocky has a chronic lung condition. Blackie, one of the sweetest cats I have ever met, crossed the rainbow bridge in March and short weeks later, half starved Eddie began appearing in our yard. ![]() Snowy was feral when we trapped her and spent the first 6 months in our home under dd's bed. She only came out at night when everyone in the house was asleep to use the litterbox and eat. She allows dh and I to pet her, but not pick her up. Dd cannot go near her. I only know we did the right thing in taking her in because every single time it rains I know she is warm and safe. The day before we committed to taking her in, she spent 8 hours under a cypress in our yard during a pouring rain. ![]() Tia is the latest addition. She had a litter of kittens she was caring for when she first began appearing in the yard. Long story..neighbors wanted the kittens for their 3 kids to play with, while being weaned, but were not willing to feed or care for any of the cats. When we knew the kittens had found homes, we became her forever home and she was spayed before even stepping foot in the house. ![]() All are now as dh says, "fat, dumb and happy" indoor only cats.

The golden cat is Chloe, my friend found her on the street.
She is the queen of the house. The little brat in the sink is Kiwi. My husband "swears" she followed behind his car 25 miles home. Suckered me in with her cute disposition. Once I said she can stay, she's been biting me ever since, lol. The grey cat, my baby, is Remy. She was just diagnosed with cancer, takes a leukeran pill every other day. She is sweet, lovable. Everyone falls in love with her. she just wants to be kissed, kissed, kissed. Is costing a fortune but so what, she's one of my kids. I have no kids, just stepchildren. Then there's my best buddy, Lucky. She's a black lab, goes EVERYWHERE with me, and I mean everywhere. She'll be 13 and is in great health. Last edited by gaby; 06-07-2011 at 06:04 AM. |
