Arrow Putting Things in Life in Perspective

Sometimes events occur which put things in our lives in perspective.

DD was HIGHLY annoyed with us tonight because we would not allow her to eat a bowl of ice cream upstairs in her bedroom. She is also not allowed to eat in the family room, but CAN eat two feet away from her usual post in the F.R., at the table in the breakfast nook with full view of the TV.

She was going back and forth with her dad when the 10 o'clock news came on. Lead story...

28 yo teacher killed in a head on collision after leaving school here in Georgia driving to New Orleans for his Bachelor Party. The wedding was to have been July 4. He and fiance were to have closed on their new home this Tuesday.

Following story...An elderly couple were badly beaten in a home invasion two days ago. The woman, 68 yo is in intensive care and so badly pistol whipped her face is unrecognizable to her family. Three men who stole $117 and beat the couple just for the heck of it. The husband was released from the hospital today and is heartbroken that he was not able to protect his wife.

    • I am thankful for my family.
    • I appreciate my friends including those here on the Aruba forum.
    • Life is good when you can vacation in Aruba.
    • God bless our troops who allow us to live such a privledged existence and prayers for those who have gone before them on this Memorial Day weekend.

Yes it's definitely a crazy world we live in. My DD is two and I wonder what life will be like when she's my age. I don't even like to hear the news anymore.

Cindy O and I have a dear friend who has traveled with us to Aruba many times. This person (who's spouse posts here from time to time....I won't say who for privacy) is very ill and it seems likely that he will not make it. We missed him on our recent trip, a last minute cancellation, but held the hope that next year he would join us. Now, is seems that this will not happen.

He is an "Ambassador" to Aruba, having received a plaque from ATA for over 20 consecutive years of visits.

Please say a prayer that God will be kind to him as he battles his illness.

It is very sobering....and makes one realize that you have to appreciate your family and what you have every day (as he did).....you never know what may happen tomorrow.

Two things stick out in my mind that make me appreciate and enjoy everyone and every day. Long story short DW was very sick. In the hospital for 4 months. It was so bad she had to learn how to walk her muscle got so weak. Want to talk about helpless. She is fine now. Now for me. Used to be and I mean used to be a workaholic. Work is all that mattered until they took me out of work spinning, clutching my chest thought it was over. Got so overwhelmed because no one could do it but me! Luckly it was a panic attack. Now i just enjoy myself. Family and Freinds first, 40 hours work (Maybe), vacations, fishing and volunteer to help out others that need it.
