Thank you so much! Will certainly pass along to dh. We just received a brand new crock pot today from my in-laws. My SIL wanted one so they had to buy one for us too. Will check out the "new" recipe book with that one to see if there are any good recipes.

I am attaching a recipe for Crock Pot Pot Roast "Stew" I picked up from today'sBHG's email newsletter.

Had to give you one of my Beef Stew Recipes. This is one of the easiest. I normally add extra potatoes because of hubby. Enjoy & can't wait to see what other recipes are put on. Stay warm everybody.

2 lbs. stew meat
1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 c. beef broth
Onion, diced
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. paprika
4 carrots, sliced
3 potatoes, sliced
1 stalk celery, sliced

Place meat in crockpot, mix flour, salt and pepper and pour over meat. Stir and coat meat with flour. Add remaining ingredients and stir to mix well. Cook and cover. Low 9 hours. High 5 hours.

another "beef stew" nana flynn's recipe

2 lb boneless sirloin cubed (extra fat removed)
1 pkg of baby carrots (1 lb)
2 lbs red potatoes scrubbed and quartered (skin stays on)
1 large bermuda onion quartered or vidalia onion
1 cup low salt beef broth
1/4 cup bbq sauce
1/2 cup celery diced
1 tsp worcestershire
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup of water
1 pkg no salt frozen peas
1 1/2 tsp mrs dash (or use salt)

carrots go in the crock 1st and sit at the bottom
then potatoes
then meat
then everything else
start off on high for 4 or 5 hrs and then turn to low for the rest of the day

typically, i make mine at night ............throw it together at 10 pm, set it on high and when i get up at 3 am to let the dog out for her business, i then turn the crock to low. At 8 am i turn it off.

if you want to thicken it, add 1/2 cup instant mashed potatoes once cooked. stir well.

serve with cornbread oh yum serves 6

more crock pot stuff

pork roast

a 3 or 4lb pork roast (no bone)
2 cortland apples sliced skin stays on
1 large white/vidalia or bermuda onion
1 can cranberry sauce jelled or whole

slice in half (the long way)
put thick apple slices on top of half and then retie the roast so the apples are sandwiched between the meat.

put onion slices bottom of crockpot
place meat with the apples sandwiched inside crock on top of the onions
add cranberry sauce on top of meat

also too quarter a few potatoes and place in crock to slow roast with the meat

cook on low all day maybe 8 or 9 hrs

serve with steamed asparagus

Okay folks, here we are, what past 2 Fridays in Lent and I am already running out of menu ideas for Friday nights.

Ash Wednesday we had pasta and my vegetable tomato sauce. Friday we had fried clams and this week I made Minestrone Soup (if you think the chicken broth counts then we are going to hell, but I am confident we are not just take my word for it ) accompanied by my secret recipe Tuna Salad sandwiches.

Need ideas for the other 6 or so Fridays left...Man cannot live on pizza alone and we save that for emergencies.
