If I never had to hear another song with autotune I would be a happy man.

Autotune is the worst thing to happen to music since the invention of the boy band.

Auto-tune is a piece of software that can adjust voices pitch. It has a very distinct sound - first song I remeber with it was Cher "Life after Love" and nowadays is it overused by many artists.

Oh, that's that weird double singing voice on her one song, correct ???
Yeah, don't like it either, although I am a blues junkie and do not think any of the blues artists would really use that type of software....at least I hope not !!!! thanks for enlightening me....

Question

re: autotune and the "we are the world" remake

imo, no big deal w/ autotune or whatever gimmicks and or technology used.
imo, the song sounded great.
i was simply making a comment that i liked the song remake

and for you country fans Faith Hill (whom i love) has her recordings tweaked with autotune as do many many others :-)

isn't technology wonderful? or not?

It's the abuse of autotune that is the problem. When used correctly, you can't hear it. The autotune sound that everyone is familiar with is actually intentional and not what the software was designed to do. The guy that created the program hates what people have done with it.

A very large number of major recording artists (mostly pop) are actually very poor singers. Autotune allows them to use a take that is "close enough" and then correct the off-pitch notes via software rather than countless takes and hours of editing. It saves a lot of time and money in the recording studio. Admittedly, I sound much better with pitch correction too.
