We aren't pet owners, but that one sure did pull at the heart strings.

Dorothy Mengering, who became a beloved guest on her son's Late Show on CBS, died on Tuesday. Letterman's publicist Tom Keaney confirmed Mengering's death Tuesday for The Associated Press. She was 95. Mengering made frequent appearances on the show before Thanksgiving and Mother's Day. She also covered the Olympics for the show.
Hopefully we'll be back in Spring 2018

Statement from LaCabana Beach Resort and Casino

    Rest In Peace-17973775_10155197913486532_6442421780560417215_o.jpg
Amarildo Bermudes passed away last Friday, April 14 after sustaining a long encounter with cancer.
Amarildo started working at La Cabana 25 years ago in the Food & Beverage department as a Bartender and during the course of the years proved to be a dependable, well respected, hardworking associate with a passion to excel in service and career.
He was a very humble individual, easily approachable, fun, firm and fair with his Team.
He wanted only the best for his Team and kept them engaged and highly motivated to perform at their best in order to create memorable vacation experiences for all our La Cabana BRC guests.
Next to his fine leadership skills, Amarildo was eager to learn more and become a proficient mixologist that will take our bar activities and staff to the next level.
Amarildo has shown genuine care and interest in his guests and will take ownership to recover any guest with a service issue. He was a loyal associate, who believes in providing personal, but excellent service.
He was well known and respected by our guests not only for his exceptional service, but especially for his personal interaction and dedication. Over the years, Amarildo has created his own “fan club”. In his free time, he was the Aruban Ambassador who would take his friends around on Island tours and show them the best and latest of Aruba.
His home is their home, while they visit. It is a real pleasure for Amarildo and his family to have his friends over for a delicious Aruban lunch or B.B.Q. while he did the cooking and the entertaining.
Amarildo served his fellow colleagues on the Social Committee and Safety Committee. In 2015 Amarildo was nominated for the prestigious SHOCO Award for Supervisor of the Year! In the course of the years, Amarildo represented Aruba in International Bartenders Contests and won several award winning titles.
Amarildo held the position of Head Bartender until recently and was very liked and respected amongst his F&B colleagues and management. One thing that we all will remember of Amarildo is his treasured smile. May his journey to heaven be a memorable experience and may he rest in eternal peace. We will dearly miss him.
Our sincere condolences go his wife Ingrid and his children Sunciree and Amarildo Junior and his family

Viewing will be at Aurora Funeral Home on Tuesday April 18 from 7.00pm – 9.00pm and funeral services will take place Wednesday April 19 from 9am – 11am at Aurora Funeral Home. Donation to the Wilhelmina Cancer Funds will be highly appreciated.

He is now free of pain. Flying high above the sky watching over everyone.
So sure he is resting in peace now.
Prayers to his family and friends.
