Very very sad situation indeed. We are banking our refund as well as our rebate to cushion ourselves for the future. Dh has a contract to teach for next year so will have a job, but with the cost of gasoline, food and our health insurance things just seem too uncertain.

AND to awaken to the news this a.m. that the tax cuts will most likely expire in 2010... we will be fortunate to continue our trips to Aruba. If dh loses his 2nd full time job, that will be a certainty...feeling very pessimistic this a.m.

I overpay every year and end up with a refund. I should probably adjust things so I receive more of my money during the year, rather than loaning it to Uncle Sam. That being said, it's nice not worrying about whether or not I owe anything.

I got a nice little refund again this year, and Andrea helped me spend it.

Oh well...you can't take it with you!

Renee and I got refunds and will get the rebates in May. We put our refunds in an ING Direct savings account that is FDIC insured and gets 4x the average interest from the "local bank".

That money won't be there for long considering we have a bunch of pricey plans when we come to Aruba. I figure 28% goes to the Aruba economy, and 14% goes to Amazon.com for my new camera (Posting).

Aruba History:
Lou: Visited on a cruise in 2005
Lou&Nay: Will visit on our honeymoon 9/2008

chip i am very very good at spending my own as well as advising others on how to spend.

this country is headed for depression we were in denial with recession and i am thinking that we are way beyond recession. we have got to cut ourselves out of the big oil circus and get moving with other forms of energy. the government should be helping us go to wind power or solar power instead of giving us $1200 per couple to pour into our gas tanks and line big oil's pockets.

we are rethinking the retirement thing. may have to put it off a year. would have to rent an apt here in town and suck it up and work 1 more year with the hopes that we can be where we were financially 12 months ago.

the economy truly is a nightmare.
