We are moving (again).
So let me start with the reason.
WE DISLIKE WATERVILLE MAINE. Once we got moved in and settled and realized we made a mistake it took us about 5 more months to actually say it outloud. When we applied for part time jobs, one of the prospective employers told Paul "we do NOT hire Massachusetts people" but he used a derogatory term in describing MA people. We swim daily at a health club here in town and we are called "carpetbaggers". Once an outsider, always an outsider..........at least that is what we experienced. We bought a house in a 55+ community in the Tampa Bay area. It is a huge neighborhood with 2 pools, clubhouses, fitness center, theater etc.. There are 1400 homes in this community. There are 11 phases and we bought in phase 1. So, the house here in Waterville is "under contract". We close on May 19 and make the trek south beginning the 20th....paul, cat, dog and me in the Hyundai Tucson. Would it be a bad thing for me to put cat and dog in the THULE roof storage container? ![]() We hope to make it to Florida destination by mid day on Sat the 22nd. Our first night will be in the Baltimore or Richmond area. Our 2nd night will be in the Savannah/Brunswick area Our 3rd night with God's blessing we will be in our new home. And our son, whom i love dearly said "what makes you think you will like Florida?" very encouraging huh?........not! andrea |

Good luck on your move and congratulations on your new home! One thing about Florida, you'll not be in the minority as a northern transplant. My in-laws have a winter home in FL, and a few of my MIL's sisters live there year around. They love all love it.

Andrea, I wish you all the luck in the world with your new home. Be careful while traveling. I will be getting to Aruba when you get to Florida! Woohoo for both of us.
My mother and dad moved to Florida from WV after retirment and LOVED it. They have passed away (mother in 2006 and dad in 2007). They lived in Okeechobee and I am sure it added many years to their lives. (mother @ 81 dad @ 83) I am sure you will love it. It is GREAT that you sold your house so soon. You are blessed! Enjoy Florida--which I know you will, especially the weather. Tampa is beautiful. IMO Safe travels--don't over do it any day--take your time. Pat

Good luck on your drive down to Florida, and enjoy your house. One good thing is that Florida is closer to Aruba as far as flight. I lived in Florida for a year in West Palm Beach, for northern transplant like Corona said its good.
