Andrea J,

The only problem with the weather here is that it rained very hard this morning but only on the back half of the house. Literally. The front received not a drop, front yard bone dry. Back yard, soaking. This was bizarre, but it is the tropics.

As Charlie used to say, "You have to improvise."

Arrow I Honestly DO NOT Know Which Is Worse

94.7 °F here today, 95.6 °F yesterday...never fails...just in time for kids back in school.
Heat index bearable with 50% humidity, wavering between 104 and 105 each day.

Rain? What's that???

July 1 - August 8
2.95 in. this year/ 3.25 in. last year
Rainfall same period this year vs. last year 14.67 in. vs. 17.95 in.

Weather in our backyard right now http://www.arubabound.com/images/home_weath.htm 78°F

Maine has two days of summer; which were over two weeks ago. Georgia has six months of summer, and vacation is over in August. It all makes sense!

I used to think that, but dd still had 9 full weeks of vacation.

It is too hot to play outside, and with all of the schools (and as they replace them, the buses as well) being air conditioned, she is just as well off being in school doing something productive. They are allowed to wear shorts to school as well. Something which was not allowed in "my day", in an UN-air conditioned school in Jersey.

Dh likes the schedule for the breaks throughout the school year. It was very very tough being in school with little kids 5 days a week from the first week in January to the first week of April with no break. Now all their one week breaks (2 weeks at Christmas) are spread out evenly thoughout the school year.

For anyone curious I am attaching a news article I had saved.
