Talking Went to Aruba August 2009 - Question

What a beautiful island, I loved every minute and I think about it all the time.
We're going to go back one day but I want to leave it a few years.

So my question, considering I loved this place, what would the rest of you as Aruba lovers suggest I need to visit. Carribbean only ideally!

St. Maarten / St. Martin for it's split personalities. Probably our second favorite island.

We have visited Jamaica several times and love it there as well. You do have to be a bit more careful there and wouldn't want to do too much exploring on your own (get a guide). The country has sooo much personality and is gorgeous.

Antigua has the most beautiful water and bays we have ever seen. (Better than the prettiest sights we saw in Hawaii).

Puerto Rico is a nice change of pace - visit the carribean without leaving the USA.

I stayed at the RIU which I loved. This is why I am considering the bahamas (i know it's nothing like aruba). They have a RIU in the bahamas you see and I love those hotels.

I only spent one day on a cruise in Antigua - we would love to go back sometime and stay at the Sandals there. I am not sure how the crime situation is there.

Puerto Rico, El San Juan Hotel, all hand carved mahogany, only US. rain forest in the Caribbean, Observatory that discovered the latest planet, phosphorescent bays that seams like pixie dust at night with a full moon.

Sunny, the thing I worry about with P.R. is the crime. The last time I stayed at the El San Juan was 1989. Back THEN we were told not to walk outside the property. At night the resort grounds itself swarmed with security.

Last week Chi Chi Rodriguez robbed at Puerto Rico home

that is kind of way we keep going back to Aruba, besides that fact we love it there...I always feel safe and do not worry about sightseeing on my own or going places without a guide...was in barbados this spring, beautiful island, but not my cup of tea...(british humor there...)little "stuffy" for my taste...
have been to st john, loved it...very laid back and tranquil, st thomas...toooooo crowded...
they say nevus is beautiful...or st kitts...

I just do not "get" the attraction with St. Kitts.

We toured the perimeter of the island and did not see a beach we said, "ah gotta come back here". Very underwhelming ...

Unless, I guess you are a "pool person". Then I guess it wouldn't matter what island you traveled to if the pool(s) were nice.
