    What is more painful?

Waiting in line thru immigration to go back home or filling out a complete mortgage application with all the required documents from 1 months stubs, bank statements, signing docs etc, coping, scanning etc.... I have done both within the last week, the later I finished moments ago. I know which one I actually disliked most despite the end results is me saving almost $300 monthly, lol.

    yes, both stink!

once your application is in the hands of the underwriter do NOT make ANY cash deposits into any of your accounts.

This was probably one of the worst months to apply but rates are GREAT, I can see the questions coming from the underwriter early so I am trying to avoid them by providing documentation early...

As far as the cash deposits, there won't be any....I left all my cash in Aruba Thanks!

When refinancing last year, we applied and forgot about it actually because it takes so long. During that wait we leased a new vehicle. The day after we signed for the car I thought about the pending home mortgage and that we probably shouldn't have leased the vehicle at that particular moment, but nothing happened and the bank never said anything to us about it.

This was more painful; I felt like we were being scrutinized on how we spent our income.

I could not have said it better myself. While it does not happen often in my life, I hate the idea of someone questioning how I spend my money. We seem to have made it to our later 40s doing reasonable well, don't torture me with stupid questions about what where a deposit came from or why I had a check leaving my account that exceeds there magic number...I forget the magic number but I am sure I am going to find out soon.

The thing that burns me the most is they want to charge me NOT to escrow, lol. I am trying to work around that somehow because not doing an escrow should leave me enough cash lying around to book my next trip after getting my current escrows returned when they pay off the old mortgage. I am actually consider paying the fee just to keep my cash for a Feb trip, lol.
