I'm a Financial Planner and Investment Advisor. Been doing it for 10 years, second career. Love the job. Will not retire till i am unable to work. And no - i dont have horns! Some Wall street folks are actually good people! In fact the large majority of us get satisfaction from our work, not only from the $$ we make, but from the people we help.

Hope I didnt offend. I just had too. One of my hats is waste water (MWRA) managment for my company, Biopharmaceutical. So I kinda know what you are up against. If you ever get the Aruba contract feel free to offer me a job. I will gladly bring you your cocktails

On the investment subject....

Out of college I went to and worked on wall street for 7 years as a Stock Broker or Registered representative. There is good and bad in it for me. Being so young and making crazy money created some bad habbits. Luckily towards the end of my 7 year stint I met my precious wife who gave me an ultimatum, my job that was phsically and mentally consuming me 6 days out of 7 or her. Obviously it was a no brainer and persued a new career. Besides having the nicest sports cars and boats and traveling all the time I was at least smart enough to save money so I was able to buy a house for my new wife and myself. After getting married I went in to the IT industry and have been here ever since. Unfortunately it's only a percentage of the money I was used to making but I am happy and I am lucky to only work 3 days a week and spend the majority of my time with the people who I love the most. I also own and run Jersey Shore power washing company. One good thing about my current job is that all of the engineers are on 3 day schedules so most of us have side businesses. I mostly sub-contract out and just make a percentage but the work is there if I ever really need it. My family time is more valuable to me.

The moral to the story is my wife is my savior! I love her and I am lucky she came in to my life.
