I work for the US Navy doing annual hearing conservation testing on sailors, soldiers & civilian base workers. Not exactly my dream job, but a safe, secure one that pays the bills. The 6 mile commute to work isn't bad either! And I get to see my husband at work often too...he is a firefighter/EMT here on the base so our paths cross from time to time whether he is a patient of mine, or taking care of another person in need.

To clairify-hearing conservation testing is hearing (audiological)screening tests.

Since I am new here is was nice to find this thread and kind of get too know you all little more.
For years I worked as first salesfloor then leadership in the retail appliance world. Last year the company I worked for went through a major restructure and seeing that I was kind of unhappy there anyway I took the severance package they offered (the alternative was step down to less pay while doing same job without a title) and now do not work.
I (like Lisa and others mentioned) have followed my husband around the country with his job. We have landed in South Carolina (and again I have the same feelings she seems to have of Georgia lol) but have been in southern Maryland, Virginia Beach and DC metro area. Before we were together he was on a sub in the Navy but for years now he has worked as a government contractor. His title is Network Engineer but honestly I don't really know what he does. To me it just means that he travels about 2/3 of the time to FBI offices all over the country and manages to miss our anniversary and usually my birthday every year. He is a wonderful husband though and his job is what allowed us to have our home and lifestyle so I try not to complain too often.

Went to work for a radio station when I got out of school, ended up first in my time slot three years in a row. I played in a few bands at the time and would sit in with others from time to time. Decided to try the engineering side of things and while it was interesting, it wasn't for me. Moved back to my home town and picked up some work in a music store and recording studio. When not doing voice work or helping in the control room, I would build and fix guitars and amplifiers. I kicked around getting back into radio at the time and I just didn't have the passion for the stations that offered me gigs, so I moved on.

Next I started working for a company that primarily repairs biomedical equipment, though I was in their PC support and installation division. That turned into a full time software support position contracted to a facility that had just merged with our parent company. I picked up some hardware support responsibilities at that time and eventually also had to run the site inventory and Y2k testing teams on my "off" hours. After burning out there I started doing some consulting and eventually picked up a gig as a network administrator. Loved the job, hated the company and had to move back to my hometown for the gig. I gave up the job to move back to a larger market and went back to the contracting - consulting thing for a while and worked in a hockey shop part time.

Somewhere along the way (2004) I set up a hockey discussion forum with a couple other guys. We've avoided selling advertising on our site in order to maintain out independence, but we have devised a couple revenue streams that allow us to profit from the enterprise and still remain impartial. I decided to put that knowledge to use and partnered with a friend to open our own hockey shop. A few years later, he royally screwed me and I'm still bitter about that.

Now I work for an airline, simply for the flight benefits and do some hockey consulting and sales on the side. I have a couple product designs that I will be shopping at the trade show in a couple weeks. I've also started playing music again and have a small facility for voice work in my home.

I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I have a Master's degree in nurse anesthesia. After many years working in larger medical centers I now work at a small community hospital right up the street. I love my short commute after traveling for so many years. My husband works as a manager for an IT company. We are fortunate because he works out of our home and manages daily household issues at our home
