You can always fly the pond and visit Ireland and the UK. The exchange rate is great right now for Americans coming over here...but I wouldn't suggest doing it in March!

One of her co-workers has parents that go there every year and they enjoy it, so evidently the key is going to the same hotel they use.
I have friends that go to Punta Cana at least yearly if not more and they love it. I actually got them to go on a cruise that stopped in Aruba while we were there in March because they hadn't experienced it yet. I'm not so sure their day in Aruba was enough to change their regular destination from Punta Cana to Aruba unfortunately.

I really liked St. Croix (and St. Thomas) but it's been years and I don't know how it is now.

So many great ideas! Thanks so much, and keep 'em coming! I love hearing about everyone's favorites and why! Sometimes the planning is as much fun as the actual vacation!!!!

I agree with St. Maarten. We have been there a couple times and it was a great time. The two others we switch off on are Punta Cana and Mexico as a matter of fact we will be in Punta Cana in 17 days but whos counting.

I would think twice about planning a trip to northern Europe until the volcano settles down. It seems that Ireland and the UK are impacted much more than the rest of the continent.

IMO fly into Puerto Rico, spend a night at the El San Juan Hotel, get on a cruise of the Eastern or Southern Caribbean, spend another night at the hotel than fly home! The El San Juan Hotel is all hand carved Mahogany with Tiffany Lamps and Christal Chandelier's!

As mentioned above, northern Europe is adversely affected by the volcano in Iceland. However, I just got back from Spain and flights to and from Madrid to the USA were on schedule. If you want to dodge the Volcano in a big way, go to Madrid via MIA.

The blog has plenty of photos and other material from Spain, Aruba, and elsewhere if you're interested.

save some money and visit Key West or one of the keys along the way.
Key West has a caribbean feel although the beaches are not at all huge and gorgeous as Aruba's.
Great restaurants. Somewhat economical. Great flights to Miami or even directly to KW.
You could look into renting a timeshare there or there are some great hotels.
A terrific place with a nice almost Caribbean feel.
Andrea, I've always wanted to go to Key West, flying into Miami and driving down, stopping here and there along the way! I love driving to Provincetown here for the day -- I hear most of the population there goes to Key West for the winter!
