    Winter Nor’easters

We live on the coast and have heeded the warning to stay in. So while sitting here warm and toasty, looking out at somewhat moderate rain we’re thinking the storm was a lot of media hype, but then we saw some video tweeted by our local police department. The Blvd which runs alongs the beach at the end of our street has been closed because the water is coming across all 4 lanes. Two streets over from us is under water and an area not far is under more than 5 feet of water.

So looks can can be deceiving!! Be safe everyone!!

My "windproof" umbrella turned inside out on my walk into work this morning. My jeans were soaked from my knees down. I would have given anything to stay home today!! If this were snow, we'd be buried! Be safe to those who are enduring this nasty nor'easter!

On a normal Friday we would be driving down that road to go to a restaurant we like!! We have been very fortunate over the years, in our home, with no real impact from these storms.

We live about 30 miles inland-my son said it is cold, raining, snowing and windy. We have a condo on the bayside at the shore we go to. Emergency Management sent out warning for there. They are expecting flooding during high tides and it will be worse than usual because of the full moon. The area where our condo is located on the part of the island that is only about 3 blocks wide. The bay is across the street and that is where the flooding comes from. However, the only time since 1974 that water got into the building was during Sandy and that was 4 inches.(before we owned there). The streets do become so flooded-knee high a few times-that you cannot drive through in the few blocks around the condo during bay high tide.

Looks like it depends where you live, we are lucky in the lower Pioneer Valley, just wind and rain and some snow flakes. Very weird weather but happy we are not getting snow (at least for now) worse prediction for us is coating to 3 inches. We are having 5 to 6 large trees cut down in the spring so just hoping they survive the wind today. Berkshires are getting a foot. Watched NECN news at noon the coast is pretty bad with the high tides. Stay safe inside. Spring is on its way!

In the DC area, the wind is causing havoc! Interstate 95 is closed near our exit because the sign that is above the highway that has been there for over 30 years is leaning. The second picture is a friend from high school's house - and unfortunately there are so many in this same predicament (no injuries in this one - thank God!)
The last picture is the marina where a friend of ours keeps his boat. only boats on lifts are okay - all the water has blown out of the creek and its just mud.

I have never seen wind like this. Our interior townhouse is making some pretty scary noises. We lost power this morning but has been back most of the day. Most people in our area have been off and on all day.

This is a link to a video of a Southwest plane trying to land at DCA (Reagan National). Jon was on that bridge in the background today and said the wind was crazy
