A similar thing actually happened to us at Queen Beatrix - we were flying business class back to Toronto and waiting to board after a day of running around like mad so we looked pretty dishevelled. We walked up to the counter to wait for them to open the gate and this guy starts screaming that we're jumping the line.

I'm pretty sure a breathalyzer could have determined why he felt so inidignant.

Anyhow, I continued to stand there (The Spouse was getting sheepish and wandered off), the guy keeps yelling things out and generally creating a commotion. I started to find it entertaining and just smiled at him which, in turn, made him even more livid.

So they open the gate for priority boarding and in I go. He finally clued in and shut up. As he came through business class (he was in Zone 4 or something), I lifted my glass to him and said, "And the booze is included!!" The people around him all started laughing as he went purple.

So, yeah, not as classy as the woman in the article but sometimes it pays to just let events unfold.

that was a great little article...I was amazed that someone would actually turn around and assume anything about the person behind them. I fly a lot and it is always interesting when you see someone in first class that you wouldn't think has a ticket for it, or when you see a fancy dressed businessman and assume he will be in first class only to watch him walk to the back of the plane to find his seat.
I do not pretend to assume anyone has or does not have money, but Im just a people watcher and sometimes wonder who what and where about folks....(keeps me from falling asleep and drooling all over myself ...)
