    Great pictures!
Thanks, I usually make up a calendar for friends and family every year with pics from my various trips. I didn't take as many pics this year so it was a little harder.

No rain, just high overcast and not all that bright and sunny until the last day.

I've been looking at some forums on St Maarten, and there really is no other forum like this one! We are sooo lucky here, and I believe a lot is due to our wonderful moderators, Andrea and Lisa. Fodor's forum has a lot of posts that are sarcastic, and even mean -- would have been deleted here! (see crime on St Maarten) And yes there have been some very helpful ones too.
But, THIS FORUM IS THE BEST
    !

Only 18 days to go! I'm so excited to get out of New England for a couple of weeks-- it snowed yesterday --- Arrgghhhh! It will be fun to explore a new place -- even though I'm sure I will be comparing it to Aruba the whole time!!!!!!
I think my ideal vacation spot would be Aruba 20 - 30 years ago, if that even exists anywhere!!!!!

We took a break from Aruba 2 years ago and went to St. Martin. We stayed on the French side at the Radisson in Anse Marcel. Very isolated but beautiful with Anguilla in the distance. As someone else mentioned, the infrastructure isn't the best but that may be because of the hurricane that went through a number of years ago. Most of the accommodations in St. Martin are timeshares. Europeans are perfectly happy with them - Americans not so much so. The restaurants in Grand Case are wonderful - Le Tastevin and Le Pressoir in particular. There's an Italian restaurant that's also quite good. In Marigot, there's an excellent restaurant by the name of Le Chanteclair - Queen Beatrice often dines there when on island. Oh, and the shopping in Phillipsburg puts Aruba to shame! Nonetheless, we continue to go to Aruba and may visit the Dutch side of St. Martin for a long weekend strictly for the shopping.

There's been a lot of talk about needing an 'escort' after dinner to get safely to your car in Marigot Marina---????? Actually, lots of talk about crime on the island, but I'm going with an open mind, and we don't do the 'stupid tourist" stuff! Also, I find that the other forums tend to get way out of hand and over-react!
Are you talking about high-end shopping? I can't do the gold and gem variety, but love to pick up a new silver bangle, or fun locally made things! (love the recycled glass jewelry in Aruba!!)

Bonaire is a bit more quaint than Aruba, but the beaches do not compare.
