Preparing for the Hurricane?

Right now we are dealing with an earthquake here in Va. Wow, what an experience! The worst one to hit here in over 100 yrs. Lots of building evacuations here and in DC. I think everyone is ok though. We'll think about Irene later!

I am in CT and we are indeed starting early preparations for the hurricane. My plans for Sunday are tentatively cancelled

And at least one building right near me on the navy base I work for felt the earthquake. Wowzer!

Gas for generator.....pool furniture to be secured....home well above sea level......property insurance carefully selected and paid for. If Irene comes it will be a chillax day......

I'll be sitting back, relaxing, and hoping that everyone will be safe.

Unlike a blizzard, the following day will be warm and sunny.

Looks like Irene could be headed our way now!

Today will get an extra gas can for the generator, and some more D cell batteries. Our house is well above flood level, but the trees are very full and heavy. Gas stove and nat'l gas grill, so we'll be able to cook. Oil lamps are always ready!
I never like it when a hurricane comes during the night, and you can't see what's going on outside!

I'm scheduled to start a four day trip on Saturday, I'm thinking the Norfolk round trip on Sunday night will be canceled, at a minimum.

Windy, I just saw that it may reach New England at night. Yikes! I don't like that idea either.
