here in the crying room @ QB airport.
the tv is on and it seems to me the media is really being outrageous and trying to get folks more panicky than necessary.

And now for the cleanup... I'm guessing we won't have power before we leave on tuesday but what can you do. I think the backside of the eye was far worse for us all night the winds were insane while yesterday they were bad but not as bad as last night! Well here's to packing without power...

Strange storm, the sky is brighter than you would expect, the rain comes in bursts the wind is calm and then there will be a gust. The shore road is closed as the waves have come up over the sea wall. We've definitely been through worse, so I'm happy about that.

Just spoke to my brother in Toms River, NJ, five miles from the ocean. Flooded basement and downed tree = no electricity. 4 million without power on the east coast, pretty significant.

Ocean broke through the dune in one of the small towns on the barrier island and waves were streaming down the street inland this a.m.

Looks like we got lucky on this one! No rain to speak of, winds holding steady in upper 40s with gusts to 55-60. Some small branches down. Have lost power briefly a few times. DH had to go check boats, then to Woods Hole to check on his Mum (age 93!) -- much worse there with southern exposure, no electricity all day, and big limbs down. Some roads near the beach are flooded.
Daughter #1 in western MA (Shelburne Falls area) has had non-stop torrential rain with flooding, and very strong winds. Had to close her horses in the barn for the first time!
Andrea, hope you get out soon, or maybe get to stay an extra day or two.....!!!!!!?

Here in Baltimore we in my eyes had a horrible rain and wind storm. We had thunderstorms a week or so ago that I think were more dangerous. But that is just my opinion. Hope everyone makes it through the storm.

Much worse here in NJ than in Baltimore I guess. Crazy rain here, about 8 inches, but the wind wasn't as bad as feared and we didn't lose power. I hate the night storms as it was difficult to really sleep last night listening to the rain and wind but you can't see much until daybreak. Some water in the basement for us and have been busy with the Wet Vac. Lot's of damage down in the Jersey Shore area from the storm surge but it looks like few injuries, just property damage.

Irene has pretty much passed through CT. I never lost power, although the river I can never see from my backyard is right here, still far enough away from the house so no flooding inside!
