I don't mind a stop as I figured I would probably have one, but the Delta layover is long. 12 hours! USAir has a decent schedule just wish it was under $600

    August Airfare

The flights are very high this year for August. I have been tracking flights for 6 months. Always around 650.00. There aren't many options for Friday Arrival and departures. I booked Delta.Try Yapta. It will keep track of prices and alert you when they go down. Good Luck!!!

Ultimately when you see an airfare you feel is "fair" that is the time to buy and never look back.

The price of oil has been a major factor in increasing airfares. Higher fares are driving up costs and increased costs require the airlines fly full planes resulting in fewer flights.

The best prices are from those destinations with the most competition or at least the most aggressive competition between major vs. budget carriers. Be flexible in your airport of departure as well as your day of departure.

Tried to book August out of NY on JBlue, leaving Wednesday returning the following Saturday. Fare was $1897, for 2 people. Just ridiculous. Then i looked at leaving on Tuesday and returning on the following Thursday - one day less in Aruba - fare for those days was $1438. Still ridiculous. But i swallowed hard and booked it. I was thinking of not going this year because of prices, but the thought was too depresssing.

Booking airfare is always a crazy game. We booked our flight out of Boston for September for a little over $500 the next day it was a little over $700. But tomorrow it could be $500 again you can't tell.

UPDATE - Took the plunge and booked $608 pp on USAirways out of Chicago for August. I've been reading due to gas prices it doesn't look very optimistic of it going down, I also just wanted to book this so I can now start planning some fun!
