    Airline Seats FYI

Just a reminder to check your seat assignments.

We are flying Delta and our flight time to Aruba in December has changed twice since we booked the flight in February.

The first time the computer automatically reassigned our seats. Our original seats were taken by someone else and Delta would not change them.

Yesterday the flight time changed for the second time and everyone again lost their seats on the flight. Presumably due to a tech glitch, I was not able to choose seats online so called Delta and they manually selected our seats for us. Checking this a.m. our seats we selected yesterday are still fine but it appears everyone else on the flight was placed in the very back of the plane in all of the back rows.

happened to us a few times...the first time it happened we were using ff miles (I think that had something to do with it) I called us air and asked why the re-assigned our seats. BTW, this was the original flight, no flight change even....the girl must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning because the first words out of her mouth were...."We own those seats you chose, not you."...I could not believe she said that...but I said that I specifically purchase my tickets way out so that I can, in fact, choose the seats I want....we had been re-assigned to seats not even together and I think I was in a middle seat. I fussed and asked to speak to a manager, she said she was a manager...I guess since I was so adamant about having picked the seats early and could see not reason for them to be taken away from us that she eventually put us back in those seats....
the other times were plane changes or time changes but in all cases I was able to get the seats back that I had originally chosen without having to fight with the air lines about it....
It has happened again this flight and I was again put in a middle seat with Dh being elsewhere on plane...when I called the girl gave us seats in middle of plane so afterwards I got on website myself and was able to again switch to the original seats which she said were not available when I asked. I am confused as to why they do this but I have given up trying to figure the airlines out.....Just have found working around them is a better option !!!

My flight to Aruba in November has changed at least 3 times in the last month but thank goodness not my seats. Basically just the time has changed anywhere from 5 - 30 mins. I am hoping no more changes but I do check daily as I have had my seats on USAir change the last 2 years, even though we purchase "choice seats" and pay more for zone 2 seating. I don't know how or why they play this game and it is frustrating. It is also very annoying because I sign up for email alerts when things change, out of the last 3 changes this past month I received only one email and that was 2 weeks after the change. So yes, everyone, try to check your seats and most important your departure times often especially as your trip gets closer.

My husband couldn't believe everyone was sitting in the rear of the plane. Airline Seats FYI-untitled-1.jpg

Rows 10-12 are economy comfort which are sold out and all "reassigned" passengers are in the back of the plane.

"Knock on wood".... but have never had this problem with JB out of Boston. We've used JB for years.

It's always a good idea to ALWAYS be checking your flight on a regular basis for adjustments in flight times and seat assignments since they sometimes will change the type of aircraft. We fly Delta for work and pleasure on a monthly basis and it hasn't happened to us very often but when it does it's good to catch it quick so you still have some options.

Yep, that is exactly what I am talking about...and when you pay for special seating and purposely pay for zone 2 to then have them change things is frustrating as hell. They are smart though because they send the alerts and you have the option to agree or refuse....but if you do, do they put you on something else that could be worse then what you already have ???!!!

Our flight schedule on Delta for this Fall and next Spring have changed a couple of times. The time change has been a few minutes in either direction and on leg changed our seats by a couple of rows. For us it really doesn't make a difference, as we booked economy and are still in economy. We're just thankfull to have a chance to travel to Aruba as much as we do, at a cost that we consider economical. It is unfortunate that the airlines have the right to do what they want, when they want, and that's the type of behavior that needs improved regulation...just my opinion.
