American Airlines early departure flight question

American airlines has a flight that leaves Aruba at 9am to Miami. We took this flight once and I remember we had to wait for US Customs to open.
Looking at the American website, says the ticket counter opens at 7:30 am. I apologize for asking this question. I know the standard times, but my search hasn't exposed any results for this.
For the 9am flight leaving Aruba, what time do you get to the airport?

At that time of day I would get there at 6:45 and get my spot in line.

Thinking if we take that flight, we would make it home for Thanksgiving dinner But that definitely means taking it easy our last day.

We had an early flight several years ago and customs Aruba was not open so we had to do customs on arriving back in the U.S.
We did get through the airport pretty quickly.

If your flight departs Aruba at 9:00 am you will need to get there 6:00 am or there about.

I know 3 hours is standard, and never take chances on that, but I'm wondering if the ticket counter actually opens at 7:30 like the website says. Also wondering what time US Customs opens because I know once we had to wait for them to open when we had this early flight, just can't remember the details.

I am looking for.some who has taken this flight recently or frequently.

Taking it easy would be out of character...... sleep it off on the plane....!

we had been on the early aa flight numerous times and yes the check in ticket window opens at 7:30 and the few times that we took that flight we did have to wait for us customs.
the last few years (3) we have been on airtran on swa.

we were very nervous about being delayed at us customs but we were all in the same boat (per se)
everyone in that customs area was on the flight.

us customs opened at 8 am

Thanks, Andrea. That is exactly the info I was looking for. We are still debating the early flight and waiting for Southwest and Jet blue to open up their schedules. I do.like that early option though. It seems like we always waste the last day sitting around waiting to go to the airport. But waiting on the beach isn't a bad thing.
