American airlines stops non stops from NY
American Airlines with no explanation has cancelled all of their non-stop flights from jfk. no reason given, just sent us a notice that we had to stop in Miami and get the only flight to ARuba that gets in at 11:20pm. These airlines need to wake up.

apparently American is no longer the preferred carrier...... :-(
Jet Blue has made its way in and offers way more than what American offers. Sad imo. that being said, American has an earlier flight from miami to aua. i think it is at around 10:30 or 11:30 am. see if you can be put on that earlier flight. |

They did the same in Boston last year. We took the layover in Miami. This year we booked JB for their non-stop. JB is really taking advantage of the situation. Their price is higher than AA's ever was.

American has been losing money for the last few years. They're cutting flights that are less profitable. It may be less convenient for you, but it is a sound business decision. Every airline has cut back on leisure flights and focused on pushing people through their hubs.

Though that's the logical and sensible thing to do, I don't have to like it. Up until two winters ago, the AA non-stop from Boston to Aruba was always full to the brim when we flew (Jan/Feb). Two years ago it was 75% full. The handwriting was on the wall. |

american airlines saw the 75% full.........probably as 25% empty :-(
the answer to all of this that comes to my mind..........they airlines do these things "because they can" i hope that the folks that always depended on and swore by american, at the very least writes their complaints to corporate headquarters. i am always advocating for folks to put their gripes in writing. if it brings no results, then at least you can say you followed thru. Dang!!!! That really bites!! I have flown 99% of my flights to Aruba on American from JFK in the last 16 yrs. Now people will be booking earlier on other flights to make sure they get the ones they want. Ok, looks like I will be doing the same for 2012. Thanks for the update "Garfconect".
