ORANJESTAD, WILLEMSTAD – The Aruban aviation company Aruba Airlines recently informed the public that it is temporarily suspending the operations on two routes.
The airlines suspended the route Aruba-Panama-Aruba starting May 1. The route Aruba-Curaçao-Aruba will be suspended starting May 10. According to the airline, these routes will be restored as soon as possible “offering the best care and service,” according to the press release.
“We ask our sincere apologies for the inconvenience cause.” The airline did not say what the reason is for these measures.
Seems like a lot of Aruba based airlines are having financial difficulties. Tiara Air which only resumed operations three/four weeks ago shut down again. Insel Air is still owed money by the Government of Venezuela, and it's fared that they may wind up like Dutch Antilles Express (DAE). Fingers crossed that everything works out for the best with the airlines.
Vallond....American Airlines wrote off $500 million US about 6 months ago. This was owed by the Govt of Venezuela In addition Air Canada was owed a huge amount. They stopped flying there as scheduled until they received some payment. Cut their service back. Highly doubt Insel will receive the funds unless the Govt here gets involved
Hi! Years back, my family got hit by Aruba Airline...We usually travel during weeks 51-52, the HOTTEST period on the Island...and, almost a month before our trip, this Airline declares suspension of all operations between Aruba and NYC.....our 4 tickets turned into piece of paper(worth originally $3000.00... and we had to by new tickets, much more expensive ....And you are correct: someone didn`t bribed enough to have their deal to go through
We just found a round trip price MIA-AUA Oct 19-Oct 29 for $216pp but due to their internal problems we are scared to book this far out, we were sweating it out before our last trip wondering if they would still be around to deliver their product.
