It appears you are correct Rob. The only way to get to AUA via AA will be JFK or MIA.

Wrong, Lisa, you forgot Dallas-Ft Worth.

Question..... (with all due respect to folks from the Lone Star state) how many Texans have you met in Aruba? How many New Englanders?

Hellooooooooo Jet Blue....good byeeeeeeee American. You are one sad excuse for an airline.

Rob, the way I read it, they are no longer listing any DFW - AUA flights on the timetable.

DFW - MIA - AUA or

    Continental from Houston

Don't forget there is always Spirit through Ft Lauderdale or Air Tran through Atlanta or Orlando. BUT you have to fly Saturday to Saturday which stinks for those of us who cannot go for two full weeks.

i happened across this on another forum.
apparently others are concerned and angry/annoyed at the elimination of direct/non stop flights on AA from Boston.

someone wrote to AA about the situation and here is the response from AA.

Thank you for contacting us. We sincerely regret any inconvenience that may be caused by our reduction in flight schedules, including the elimination of direct seasonal service from Boston to Aruba. It is just no longer economically viable for American Airlines to maintain the current level of flights in certain markets.

This was a very tough step for us to take but we don't have a lot of practical options. We will continue our efforts to compete effectively within the difficult environment that exists within our industry.

We very much appreciate your business and hope to welcome you aboard soon.

    Sincerely,

Thank you for posting this, Andrea.
    My response follows:

    Dear Ms. DeLancey:

Over the past 14 years, my family has spent approximately $36,000 with American Airlines for our party of four to make annual visits to Aruba. Sorry that this was not enough.

I have read your letter regarding the American Airlines decision to cut back on flights to Aruba and the reasons for doing so. Please stop whining about the economy and the difficult environment within your industry. With the level of service you customarily have provided, had you been in any other industry you would have been forced to declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy long ago. The airline industry has minimal competition, and you take full advantage of that.

Please forward a catalog of alternative awards that I may choose from as I utilize my remaining frequent flyer miles. Perhaps I will be able to find a nice toaster oven.

    Sincerely,
    Rob O.

yes rob, although imo it should be softened and less sarcastic. (i am sorry i do not mean to be critical)
but yes you do have to tell them your thoughts in the way that you see fit.

i am really wondering if AA will add in the nonstop for their heavy/busy winter season bos-aruba. beginning at christmas to easter?

typically from may - november those nonstop flights are GONE.
when AA representative said " the elimination of direct seasonal service from Boston to Aruba." does that leave some doubt that possibly the nonstops might be reinstated in heavy winter travel season?

i wrote to AA (and have yet to receive a response)
asking if the nonstop will be back in the heavy winter session.

Not to worry, Andrea.... no need to be "PC" with Rob O!

I think that Nov-April is the "seasonal" they referred to. With AA, there is always some doubt. There is no rhyme nor reason to how they manage things. They've survived despite themselves.

For the good of Aruba tourism, I think that ATA should weigh in. Aruba cannot afford for the heavy volume of New England tourists to consider other, more convenient, options.
