Bringing frozen meat to Aruba
We talked to a couple at LaCabana two years ago. They said that they bring their meat in from home. They said they used a sterofoam cooler and taped it up securely and put in checked luggage. Wondering if anyone on this site has done this and if it was stil frozen by the time you got to your room. Trying to save money this time as we will be staying a few days more this time.![]() Tim & Kathy |

Tim and Kathy,
Never met anyone that did that, but I imagine it would work...we always bring the stuff that seems to cost a little more there like....coffee in the premeasured packs, flavored creamers, olive oil & balsamic vinegar, sugar packets and sweetner, crystal light, baggies, aluminum foil.....then the meats and such are not such a hardship......although this year we are going for 3 weeks instead of 2 and bringing more people, so let us know if it goes okay and then maybe I will do the same thing !!!!!! |

We've brought Omaha steaks a couple of times for the grill. They're already frozen and shrink-wrapped so then we wrapped them in newspaper and taped them shut, put them in a cooler bag and they were still hard as a rock when we got to Aruba and checked into our hotel.

Many, many years ago before Aruba had the large supermarkets we used to bring our entire Thanksgiving meal from home with us. We probably looked like fools, but it worked. Now with the great supermarkets that have opened, we don't bring any food items with us at all.

If you are checking a cooler as luggage, just check with your airline as to their restrictions and requirements.
Would hate to see someone try to get on a small Embraer and be told there was no room for their cooler full of steaks. Some airlines also have "box embargoes", especially at certain times of the year, to which coolers apply. I don't "think" it applies to Aruba flights, but please check anyway, would you really want the airline reps eating your hard earned steaks?
