Cheapest time of year to fly

We had to cancel our trip this year due to a sick child. We are looking to travel next year but are flexible and can go any time from April through December. We have vouchers on JETBLUE and would travel from Boston or New York (JFK). Any advise on what time of year seems to have the cheapest flights??? If this is such a thing as a cheap flight anymore...

Hi, I travel out of Boston on JetBlue in October...week 43...and usually pay $200 or under one way. The flights for this coming October aren't out yet but I've been checking daily. Plus, October is not high season so it is not as crowded.

The past 3 years our flights were always under 800 for the two of us round trips.

Whats going on in 2011 when I can not find these flights--for the same week for under 1200.

i think the cheapest flights can be found from NYC BOS PHIL Charlotte ORLANDO
all in Sept, Oct, early Nov, early Dec and all of May and 1st week of June

We are flying on a Continental direct flight on Monday July 11 for $388 round trip. With taxes and destination fees it is $475 per person.

September through early November is usually one of the slowest times of year for airlines. Many have cut flights during that time of year to reduce excess inventory and preventing flights from ending up as cheap as they were 5-6 years ago.
