Check your US Air timetable asap!

We like to book our next year's Christmas flights as soon as they get loaded into the system as the flight prices are always the best at that time. I had all 7 of us booked and at the best prices I have been able to find in years and was so thrilled. By coincidence I happened upon the fact that three of my flights would have to be rebooked and all three would necessitate three flights vs two flights...not doing that! Called US Air and apparently as they merge further with American Airlines many flights are getting dropped. They are not sure if they will be reinstated but said lots can change in the next number of months. The two websites should be fully merged by the summer.

What does this mean to me and possibly others? Well of course US Air will refund your money but the issue becomes at what price can you rebook with another airline? I am not willing to wait months to find out that one of the flights we use to travel home (that has been canceled) may be reinstated and then panic to find alternative flights at an affordable price. So, unfortunately I had to rebook on other airlines. Luckily, two flights were very close in price but not as great a connection time as my original flight but one of the flights is going to be $150 more. Had I booked with this airline initially the price would have been more competitive.

So for those that have booked far in advance, double check to ensure your flights haven't been altered. Experience has shown me that the airlines change flights far more quickly than they notify their customers. Then they do "forget" to let you know and that has happened to me many times too with US Air.

and to add to that too randi.....sometime the airlines change their equipment (planes) and the seating that you chose is no longer the seating that you chose.

check back to your reservation often!

Yes always check your reservation frequently. We had flights to San Juan change twice and never would of known unless I checked myself.
Step daughter flew out of Orlando to Boston on United Air... they canceled her flight twice.. three different airports to get home
Emailed me.. plane troubles and tells them weather.. did forward email to her and the other customers letting them know.
Don't know why they have to mislead people (nice way of saying lying...)

Yes I agree. I check mine at least 4-5 times a week even though it is in November. So far so good but USAir has changed times etc. in the past and never emailed me even though I have signed up for alerts. Check often to avoid hassles and surprises.

US Airways is hideous, stands out as awful in a horrible customer service industry.

Last November, I checked our reservations six weeks before leaving foe Aruba. I found that they had changed our return flight change of planes layover time from 1-1/2 hour to MINUS 1 hour. They had us landing in Charlotte at 8:00 pm and taking off from Charlotte at 7:00 pm the same day.

It it did make for a short flight home

We flew SWA for the first time last January. Booked in July, layover in Orlando. In September phone rang, SwA on caller ID. They wanted to let us know that layover was changed to BWI. I was really surprised they didn't email but instead called in person??

Aint that the truth. We flew on AA a few years back and changed planes in DFW to go to MIA then AUA. We had coach seats 12 A B for the flight on a brand new 777. We were waiting to board and all of a sudden people started coming off. Evidently there is more than one 777 configuration. The one at the gate did not have as many seats as the one that had been booked. Several people said the seat they had reserved did not exist on this plane. Eventually we were allowed to board the flight and it turned out that our seats were business class seats on this plane. I felt really bad for those that had to wait on the next flight but it was great to get Business class for coach fares.

I checked my US flights for July and there has been no change, so think positive.
