Has anyone experienced with Delta booking a direct flight and then a few months later they change it to a stop over? It happened to us once, and now I see a great price for direct flight in May for $418.00 round trip from JFK. We prefer doing direct flights. Not sure to book now or wait and see what other fares would be in a few months on JB or AA. Thanks

Just got the bad news email today for our Delta flights in March 2013..I booked them back in June..direct each way LGA to AUA...last week we got an email thout our return trip was no longer direct. I was upset, but we leave 2 hrs later so that's a plus! Can stay in Aruba 2 hrs longer. This morning I got an email stating our flights down are no longer direct we arrive 2 hrs later and they moved my seats to back of the plane.. I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER RIGHT NOW! The only reason I booked them was because of the direct flights. They are now charging for your 1st bag too on flights to the Carribean..so that's an extra $75 each way for my family of 3. Time to find a new airline!!

bryanne did you call Delta and request a no penalty cancellation of your flights? Not sure if they would do it, but worth a phone call?

If you are still going to fly Delta, with a Delta American Express SkyMiles credit card, your first bag is free, for up to 9 people in your booking. You also get priority, zone 1 boarding. New card members also receive 35,000 skymiles.

The fee for the card is $95 per year, but we just saved $150 so it more than paid for itself. The card itself also has other perks we have used on more than one occasion such as an extension of manufacturer's warranty on all purchases paid for with the card.

Due to their new economy comfort seating, Delta's new seating assignment choices are lousy, but I will go into that in further detail in my trip report.

Arubalisa..I spoke with an agent today. She stated I could change to another flight and she would wave the fees..however without a direct flight not sure what else I will find..these were really nice fares $418 pp RT ! They are all over $800 pp now, some as high as $1000. My only option would be the Fri. flight and stay overnight in Atlanta and take the 1st flight out in a.m. We've done that for the past 2 yrs. It would get us to Aruba 2 hrs earlier than our current flight. I don't think Jetblue or Air Tran are going to be that cost effective, so I think I'm stuck with the layover flights
