    Delta Carry-Ons

I am flying domestically today but interesting to see that Delta is closely scrutinizing carry-ons, and using the sizer. On my United flights last week anything was fine as long as it fit in the overhead.

a few weeks ago on SWA , MCO - AUA and AUA to MCO, they were not scrutinizing.

but.......in july on a domestic flight they were checking diligently.

Air Canada wasn't checking in November even though the flight was full.

Sorry I am on my phone and just realized did not post this in the airline category.

Wanted to add on Tuesday I saw the TSA doing an additional spot screening at a gate as a flight was boarding.

They obviously have some type of warning through intelligence that says be on the lookout.

I heard on the news that they are considering banning (yes, banning) carry-ons over the holidays because of the threats. My reaction? If they do that, the terrorists win. TSA just needs to do their job. I'll be fine with long lines, but not with bans on carry-ons. What would be next, flying in the buff?

    Hopefully, sanity will reign:

That will be one way I will have to pay for a second bag to be checked. Need that carry on but it is what it is!

I wonder how they would enforce that as people have to bring their medications and technology with them (per airline guidelines)?

Gate checking 37 passengers on an Embraer is a whole lot different than gate checking 180 people on a 757 but I would venture to guess that no matter how stringent they became with carryons, they could not prohibit you from one personal item so you would need to be able to store your medication and gadgets in that.

As the article pointed out, if they outright banned carry-ons it would be damaging to the airlines. People will just stop flying.

We've experienced the gate check of everything while boarding Delta out of Aruba a couple times in last 3-4 years. Still moves pretty quick.
