Departing Aruba Airport after luggage pick up

Once arrived in Aruba...have any of you experienced "getting out delays" after picking up your bags?

I got 2 messages this morning that folks experienced back ups at the Aruba customs area.

Folks arrived to Aruba. Went thru Aruba immigration without excessive delays....only to be delayed once they picked up their luggage and ready to depart.

Apparently their luggage is being scanned and or screened by Aruba Customs.

I am wondering if it is related to the huge influx of folks for the Soul Beach Festival.

The two times we were delayed there, it was because a flight had arrived from Venezuela and they were checking everyone from that flight.

    thanks
that is what i told the 2 that messaged me.
i said that it might depend on where the flight came from AND due to the Soul Festival.

i think that there are certain flights that are flagged, Venezuela fliights being one of them.

It happened when we went in November. I was quite surprised that they were randomly checking bags. I know they have always been there but usually they just let you walk right on by....this time they were checking random people. There was a little delay getting out, probably not as long as I thought it was, in hind site I was so excited to be back that any delay seemed like forever !!!!!

We arrived April 27th and there was nobody checking bags. There were a couple of guys standing there, but they didn't stop anyone leaving after baggage claim.

Arrived on May 14 and walked right through after picking up the luggage. No one checking bags that day anyway. In all of my 33 trips to Aruba I've never been stopped when leaving the baggage claim area. I have seen a couple of people stopped who had alot of bags from Duty Free though.

I haven't been delayed either after picking up my luggage. But at one time, when I had brought a bunch of items with me for my friends in Aruba, my suitcase had been opened and checked, a notification slip was left in my suitcase. And on my return trip, with only my clothes in by suitcase, it had been opened and checked again, leaving another notification in it.

I believe that was a TSA luggage check, not the bags being checked by officials when leaving the airport in Aruba.
