just found a pretty good deal on aa.com-Detroit to Aruba for $418pp in Jan/Feb

No. There is a connection in Miami. You leave Dtw at 7:20 A.M. and get to Aruba at 2:50. Only a 45 minute layover in Miami, so it's cuting it close, but we have done this the last two years and been ok.
