    Direct flights

For those of you that have the direct option how much extra would you pay to fly direct each way? I know CPJones says its direct or bust....I myself try to fly direct whenever possible but I have a cutoff on how much extra I will pay to do so. My wife does not have a cutoff. Our last trip I booked connecting on the way home but changed my flights that morning for a $75 fee each to fly direct. It was the best $225 I spent the entire trip, lol. So you know my number is above $225.

We do not have the luxury of direct flights out of Columbus and we do not wish to drive to Cleveland or Cincinnati. I would love to be able to do this, if so $225.00 sounds good to me?

It was $75 each but we are wary of waiting to the last minute to change our flights home. If rates don't come down if/when we go in April I will probably try the same trick, lol. My number is about $200 per round trip ticket so it would be a total of about $600 for my family. If it was just me I would be more flexible but with an 8yr old its hard....that said I can't stomach the April costs....yes I am a bit crazy around airfare prices...some things don't bother me but getting "robbed" to fly drives me nuts!

As long as it's an option..... yup! And then pay for 'more space' seats too! Not rich by any means.... but some things are not negotiable.

I’m with CP it has to be a direct nonstop flight with extra room seats. Tom doesn’t fly well and would not be happy with even 1 stop. Plus my feeling is, you cheat yourself out of time in Aruba when you have to stop. I’ve found if you are persistent and patient (something I’m not good at) you can find a price you can live with.

We're lucky in that there are a few options to fly direct from Toronto so we can always try alternates if a fare looks outrageous. We tend to fly Air Canada because we like the business class option. The Spouse is not a good flyer so connecting flights are not an option no matter what the price difference.

I turned down a role out west last year because we couldn't stand the thought of losing a day on each end of the vacation... we'd have to connect overnight through Toronto to get to Aruba.

I think you are all related to my wife. She HATES connections more than anything but I hate giving away money so its a battle, lol. She wins the battle most often. When my direct tickets get over $1000 each for direct flights I start to rethink the flights....they hammer us on vacation weeks but it is what it is I guess. Act have fun on the trip.

We are lucky that Newark Airport has so many non-stop flights and unfortunately though I hate United, they do, too. If its a choice between non-stop and one-stop, regardless of the price, I am going non-stop. I don't usually look at anything else. I have tried looking at other airlines besides United, but they usually have one-stop so I am stuck with United and its prices.

The pricing seems much better in the NY/NJ region than Boston probably because we only have 1 option for direct. Thanks.
