A New Fee for Visa Waiver Program Travelers

Apologies if this topic has been touched upon before, but just wanted to bring to light that for those travelers under the ‘Visa Waiver Program’ a fee will be implemented on September 8th 2010 of $14.00.

The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is required for any traveler going to the USA by air or sea, even those passing through; with the exception of Canadian and Mexican passport holders.

If your ESTA is expiring soon, complete it now and beat the fees.

Just a tip for those that need to do this!

This is not needed for legal residents of U.S. or Canada or anyone already traveling to the U.S. under a valid visa. If you are part of the Visa Waiver Program then you must apply for ESTA.

As i'm going to be renewing my ESTA soon (As an Australian citizen) there have also been reports of scam companies "offering" to pay it for you, I'd suggest only use the official ESTA website as you'd hate to find out later on that your $14 and ESTA application have dissapeared/never existed in the first place
