    Flite Changes from NYC

WOW! I've been on line the last week searching flites from JFK (NYC) to Aruba for 5/18/12 and could not believe my eyes when I saw that Jet Blue is the only Airlines providing non-stop flites to Aruba for 780.00!!!! I've been traveling to Aruba, non-stop to Aruba for 10 years now, same time of the year, same airport and I've NEVER seen such abominable fares . American has appeared to remove it's non-stop fares as well. What a mess...
Has anyone else noticed these horrendous fare hikes?

    yup the fares are high.
and they change lots, keep watching.
jet blue seems to have a captive audience.
i recommend for signing up for some airfare flight notification tool.

have you checked AA thru MIA?
that is how we have gone the last few trips.
prior to that we used Air Tran out of Orlando.
when we were living in MA, we used AA exclusively, not only the nonstops but the one connecting thru JFK and then on to AUA from JFK.

    try www.kayak.com
    and
    www.airfarewatchdog.com

    good luck.
you are NOT alone in your airfare troubles.

if you know your dates well in advance, then you should begin your airfare search about 10 mos and 3 weeks away from your dates of travel.

We are traveling the same time (5/19). We are going down on Jet Blue and coming home on Delta wth a stopover in Atlanta. We were watching and watching JB rates for a while they were horrible!! One day the flight down (8:15 a.m.) was low so we booked the one way and then found a good deal on Delta for the way back to JFK on 5/27. We alway's loved JB but even their flights to other destinations have gotten crazy.
    See you down there!!

Check the Jet Blue site a couple of times a week. We bought our tickets for $727 each (from Boston) and ended up getting credits that took the price down to $505 each.

The Jet Blue site tells you the lowest price for a flight is the opening day price. Later on they panic and drop the price to sell tickets. If you call, them they will give you credit. We received 4 or five credits for our tickets because I kept checking. As an alternative, you can wait a bit and watch the prices.

    Flights from NYC

Have you looked at Continental flights out of Newark NJ? These flights are non-stops and have 2 flights to Aruba on Saturday's If you are not that far away from Newark, keep checking Continental flights at that time.

When an airline is the only one operating a direct flight between two locations, they always raise the price significantly. Jet Blue undercut the other airlines from Boston and JFK for years, often flying at prices that lost money. Now they are in a position to take advantage of that. Every airline does it.
