Flying to or from Aruba from other islands

Has anybody ever flown to other islands from Aruba and used Pawa? We have flown to st.martin then to Aruba using insel air and it was awful. Love to visit st. Martin first but would never fly insel air again. I heard that Pawa started flying to Aruba and was wondering if any one has tried them or any other airline? Thank you, Dolores

Hello there! As Andrea mentioned I am from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, getting to and from Aruba for me has involved connecting through Curacao, on my trips to Curacao I have flown with Suriname Airways(2010, 2012, 2014(x2) and Insel Air(Sept 2016), and then from Curacao to Aruba I have flown with Insel( 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016) and Tiara Air(2014), on one occasion I was put on a DAE flight at the last minute due to technical problems with the Insel Air flight.

On my previous trips with Suriname Airways there was only one delay and it was only fifteen minutes, but they always got me into Curacao with lots of time to spare, to make my way through Immigration, check in and make my way to the departure area. On my last trip to Aruba back in September of 2016 I booked with Insel Air which meant that I was able to go through Transit instead of having to go through Immigration, customs etc. Well, that whole trip was a Comedy of Errors. The flight over was one delay after another, instead of arriving on Aruba at 9:25 pm as originally scheduled, my flight arrived at 11:25 pm and I did not walk out the airport till 12 midnight. Due to Insel's delays I wound up loosing the remainder of that Thursday evening. On my way back I took the initiative to check in early and was placed on the first flight to Curacao which got me there with tons of time to spare, however my flight to Trinidad was delayed from 3:15 pm till 5:00 pm.

There have been a lot of articles at the Curacao Chronicle which talked about Insel's problems with delays and flight cancellations. The most recent one being a flight from St. Martin being delayed overnight due to technical problems, a day later and the passengers were still on St. Martin. As much as the airline has made announcements about changes in management, cutting of routes and such, they are still experiencing delays and cancellations. I've been giving serious consideration to travelling with Copa Airlines for my next trip, granted it will involve connecting through Panama, the connecting flight from Panama will put me on Aruba by 2:00 pm in the afternoon.

PAWA is an airline from the Dominican Republic which has flights to and from Aruba to the Dominician Republic on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, here is the link to their site if you would like to check them out:
    https://www.pawadominicana.com/en/

Or you may want to check out Copa as well at this link:
    https://www.copaair.com/en/web/gs?d1...FQ9ahgodvPgGGQ

As for other airlines to the other islands, really can't say, that will all depend on which island you want to go to. To get to the other islands may involve connecting through Curacao to another island to get a connecting flight from there. If you happen to come across an airline by the name of LIAT( Leeward Islands Air Transport) avoid them, they are worse than Insel. LIAT now stands for Leave Island At Any Time, or Luggage In Another Territory.

    Hope that it helps.

Vallond thank you for your info. I checked Copa they don't fly to Aruba, do you have a link to Suriname? Pawa has a nice flight for times, I just don't know what to expect from them, I have heard pretty good things. We swore we would never fly insel air again, we had to stay overnight in Dominican this past January. Dolores

Here is the link for Suriname Airways:
    http://www.flyslm.com/

They do offer direct flights to Aruba from Paramaribo, and Florida.

Are you sure that Copa does not fly to Aruba?? Could be the day you had in mind that they don't have any flights to and from Aruba. Here are some links to the Curacao Chronicle regarding Insel and their difficulties:

    http://curacaochronicle.com/aviation...ical-problems/

A few weeks ago a father who was travelling with his young daughter out of Curacao got into a fight the airline staff by the gate when they announced that the flight was delayed, he was eventually detained by airport security before being handed over to the police.

Oh! I see!! Too bad DAE is no longer around, I recall they used to do flights from Curacao to St. Martin. Hopefully something will come up, or that Insel gets it's act together and is on time with their flights.
