i've paid as little as $333 pp for a direct flight from phila and as much as $500 pp..this year direct flights from phila on us air were going for around $850 pp going last month..i got lucky and found a flight on delta with a 2 hr layover for $319 pp..this year for some reason the airline industry has gone a little crazy..you just have to be smart and keep checking your flights day in and day out..also, you can use a web site such as www.kayak.com which finds you the cheapest flight on multiple carriers or www.yapta.com which if your flight price goes down you will get a refund..some travel experts say that you usually get the cheapest price from the airlines own website because sites such as travelocity charge you fees..also, experts say that tuesday night between 12 am and 3 am wednesday morning is when you might come across the best deals because this is when the airlines put in their low prices after seeing how they did sales wise over the weekend..

We were able to get tickets for a whopping 290 including tax, out of philly...however, went back in next day to get a couple more and they were gone....if you are surfing and see a price that you can't believe,,,,,buy it on the spot because you will never find it again. I also have flown out of Newark...(I live by Pittsburgh, but a friend lives close to NJ) for 386. This has all been within the last 1-1 1/2. We are using frq.fly. miles this weekend (yeah) to go, but my niece got tickets for 425 with tx.....so long story...watch and grab a deal if you see it.

Aruba, my home away from home !!

Airfare email alerts are free. Sign up for at least one to find out when tickets go on sale. I use www.farecompare.com and they usually post fare sales before the airlines even have them loaded in their system.

Direct Flights

Try going onto Continental.com (they are the only direct flight airline to Aruba out of Newark.) Flights vary depending upon the time of year. As long as you are not going during school vacation times, your flights shouldn't be too high. How's this for Christmas ($1600.00 uncomfortable coach seats round trip) the highest it has ever been! Welcome to high season!

We have been using kayak.com to search for fares for several trips this year. For Aruba, we were surprised that the best fares for Christmas week (or the one before) seemed to be much higher than in prior years, especially if trying to book for a Saturday-Saturday week.

We wound up booking in late August for just Monday-Saturday, wasting a couple of days of our timeshare week (at La Quinta), to get fares that we wanted to pay. Hardly any reasonable flights to Aruba in this period are non-stop so we are stopping in Charlotte in each direction.

I'm sure we paid much less in 2005, and then in 2006 we got a great air/resort combination package on SkyAuction for about $850 each, staying at La Cabana Villas for Christmas week.

Booked our flights from Newark the day they were available on continental's website - $393 + tax. Family went online the next day and paid $440 for the same flight. It all depends on how booked the flight is.

Jacki loving Aruba from NJ

Watch seat selection on Continental out of Newark. Only airline that flies non-stop. We're much closer to Newark but end up flying out of JFK on Jet Blue, since tickets average $100 or more less each, and the seat selection a lot better. Everyone I know who COULD fly out of Newark says they always go to Aruba from JFK. Go right to the airlines' websites for the lowest fares. Those "Orbitz" type outfits always come in higher.
