I'm with Jackie. Newark is only 40 or so miles and about 50 minutes. Had a few flights out of JFK and hated the ride, you get stuck on the Belt Parkway--good luck.
Anytime I tried to use Allentown, PA as an alternate the flights they came out of Newark, so they bussed you from Allentown to Newark. Have yet to fly out of Allentown.

We don't have many options here. Philadelphia is our best bet-50 miles-AA direct on an 820 am flight. Atlantic City is closer-only 25 miles, but is Spirit is the only airline there these days and it only flies to Aruba once a week. They charge more for baggage, carry-ons, and usually are just as expensive as AA and it is not direct. We went out of Newark once to Portugal but it is a 120 miles from home. Hotels(we usually do a stay and fly the night before) and parking are more expensive than Philadelphia plus there is the NJ Turnpike. We flew out of JFK to Thailand last year-it took over 3 1/2 hours to get there, but it was really the best option despite the distance, tolls, hotel price.

We live closer to Bradley but have flown out of BOS,EWR,JFK,LGA.....Bradley doesn't have direct flights to AUA & we buy our tickets and our granddaugthers so its usually wherever I can find the best price....this year will be JFK ...saved over 200 per ticket over Bradley... Diane

We live in northern Virginia and have lots of options, but limited nonstop flights. Dulles and Reagan are both reasonable taxi rides away. BWI isn't a bad ride, but we have to drive and park. Richmond is not out of the question, but is a little farther out and usually more expensive. BWI has nonstop Southwest flights almost daily. Dulles has United nonstop on Saturdays and seasonally on Friday and Sunday. American usually has the most competitive prices from all 3 DC airports, and reasonable layovers. We have lots of options. Jet Blue is a new option for us since now they stop in Ft. Lauderdale. We also have Spirit and Delta options.

Live about 45 minutes from Bradley, 45 minutes from Westchester, but only connecting flights. So it is 1 1/4 hours to JFK for direct flight on Jet Blue and also the best price.

I take United from EWR as they are the only airline that is direct and only 26 miles from home.

Wow, now that you made me think about it, we have airports all around, but not really any non-stop options. Cleveland 1 hr, Pittsburgh a little over an hour, Akron/Canton 1 hr. We have a small airport practically in our backyard that services Allegiant. Columbus 2.5 hr, Detroit 3 hrs, but we haven't flown out of there in years. Although hubby doesn't like it, we usually end up using Pittsburgh, mainly due to the fares.
