I think I'm done with Southwest

I am not loving Southwest today. It seems like they have some good policies in place, until you actually try to use their policies and it doesn't work out. One a good note, if your airfare goes down you can call and get a credit for the amount to be used within 1 year of the booking date. We had a couple of these credits and used them for a cheap trip to Florida. Booking with more than one credit is a pain and we ended up having to do it over the phone. Also if you plan on using multiple credits on the same ticket, don't plan on trying to change your flight. Everything is a hassle. My problem is if you are going to offer credits, why make it such a pain to use them. So now, I went to check in online and something is wrong with my reservation. After 30 minutes on the phone, I'm told just wait until.you get to the airport to check in. This guarantees a bad position in the way they do boarding. I also have 3 different confirmation numbers. It's making me a nervous wreck and putting a damper on the last day of our trip. Plus I guess we will have to get to the airport early now to make sure there are no issues.
One reason we liked Southwest was their passenger of size policy. I am overweight, so I am able to book 2 seats and then get a refund after traveling. They say you don't have to buy the extra seat, but my experience last time with the gate agents at 2 different airports is that they don't understand their own policy and you are better off buying the seat and asking for the refund. Now with mix up on my ticket, I'm hoping the refund goes smoothly. We'll see. The phone agent tells me that I can't check in because my reservation says I've already travelled. Hope I can make some money off of this time machine I must have...lol. the flight is for later today.
So on about 6 flights on southwest we have had some kind issues on 4 of them. That's enough for me. Don't get me wrong, they do try to make it right with credits, but now we are learning that using those credits is a hassle. They have policies that sound great but actually using them is not so fun. The free bags and nonstop Aruba option is what kept us coming back, but it is becoming more and more annoying every time we have flown with them it.just seems it's always something.
Not sure when, but we will be back

    Tracey,
My suggestion is to go to the airport before you travel and get this sorted out. I had an issue with a ticket that was booked on points and I found that the best way to solve it was to physically go to the airport during a non peak time and sort through it there.
    Good luck

Good luck with all of this Tracey..... I sense huge frustration.... when I get to that point, I just don' want to bother with whatever or whoever is causing it. As much as it's a huge inconvenience... I think Randi has your best solution.

Sounds like big pain. I have only flown SWA twice and I don't like it at all to be honest. I like to know exactly where I am sitting etc...I felt like cattle in a line there. I will stick with Jetblue.

If we change the thread title to, "Why I Hate <<insert airline name here>>", even the lurkers will start writing essays. Don't get me started on Air Canada and WestJet.

sorry to hear of your issues with your situation

we had issues with swa using credits....last year coming home from new england

one of my credits and one of paul's credits had expired.
we had flight credits used on the way from manchester, nh to orlando.
well at the time weather cancelled our flight so they rebooked us for travel the next day.
but, the fight credits had expired on that day that was cancelled..
it was a huge issue and we finally got it right.
i do admit, i kooked out on them a little at the counter when we checked in and they told us.....hey there your flight credits expired yesterday.
( i was polite but i did turn on the waterworks)

i find that with the customer service agents, it is a crap shoot.

some of them just do not care.

Tracey, I hope you get this all settled. It is enough to make one slightly crazy. I have not had any bad experiences so far but it seems all the airlines are changing.

Made it through better than expected. Even the southwest agent didn't understand how the phone rep booked my ticket. Seems like that's where the mistake was made. The ticket agent was extremely helpful. That's the thing that has kept us coming back even though we've had minor issues, the employees at the airport are helpful and they do always make it right in the end. It's just a lot of unnecessary anxiety.
