I'm all for arriving in Aruba as early as possible & leaving Aruba as late as possible - connection or not

There is a connecting flight that leaves at 4:41 pm meaning we'd have to leave for the airport at 1:45 using the 3 hour rule. We're coming home on Thursday and have Friday and the weekend to recoup from the late arrival home. And it would mean breakfast, a little beach, lunch and maybe a few cocktails before we leave. That 3 hour thing is rough, but I get it. We hit major lines one year at the US Customs.

No matter what day of the week you're departing Aruba. It's better to be on the safe side and get to the airport EARLY!!! Especially if there tends to be a long wait for US Immigration and Customs.

As someone who has to rely on connecting flights to get to and from Aruba, it has its good points and its bad points. Mainly time spent waiting for said connecting flight which could be better spent at the main destination when flying to Aruba. Departures means i have to cut short my final few hours on Aruba to get an early flight to Curacao where I have to spend the entire day in the airport waiting for my connecting flight back home, while being tortured by boarding announcements for Insel flights to Aruba, it's downright horrible when the gate that I have to fly out of is right next to the gate where travelers are boarding for Aruba. In my mind I'm yelling, "TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!" If it can't be helped and connecting flights is the only way to get to and from Aruba, then that's just how it as to be. Look at it this way, for those of you flying out of the US and Canada, if you have to connect to say Miamir, Orlando, Charloette, DC etc, you are still guaranteed to arrive on Aruba by 3:00 pm for the latest. Well in advance of those of us who live nearby in the Caribbean and who can only hope to arrive by 5:00 pm or before the sun starts to go down.

I am one of the people that would prefer the direct flight instead of an extra 3 hours on the beach. Its not because I don't love Aruba, you know I do,lol. I hate flying day so anything that shortens up my time on the plane/airport I am all for.

I would probably feel the same if we had more daily options for direct flights but some days of the week we just don't have a good option. We like to try to time our departure with our hotel check out time. I considered an earlier morning flight but it just felt like a wasted cost for the hotel since we really would lose a full day.

We are hoping that Jet Blue prices drop and we can take a direct flight down from Boston and connecting home. There are some decent flights on other airlines that might work. Heck, as long as we get there, I'll be one happy girl on one happy island!

Last year with global Access we went to the front of the line so to speak. I felt the dagger stares as we passed the serpentine line. Best thing we did.

We have a Memorial day flight and with Soul Beach ending, this day at the airport seems a bit unpredictable. So, 3 hours for us. We have a 4:30PM flight and a check out at noon. Not sure how to spend the morning. At least it won't be an early morning wake-up. A slow crawl kind of morning.

Our return flight is always a 4:40PM departure. We fly first class, have global entry and fly on weekdays, so we tend to push the limit a bit. We usually turn in the rental car around 2:00 and still have plenty of time due to the short lines we always encounter. Susan, we have to check out of the Surf Club around noon, but after a quick breakfast we are by the pool early morning with final cocktails and trips around the lazy river. Before we check out we keep the clothes we travel in out of the suitcase and use the locker room facilities there to shower and dress. After goodbyes we leave for the rental car return around 1:30.

We always get the direct flight from Philadelphia that leaves around 8:30 am. It is about 4.5 hours. Going home direct is closer to 5. They only go direct a few days a week. This time we are on the direct 2 pm flight on Sunday and will arrive in Philadelphia around 7 pm, but since it is American Airlines so you never know about delays.

Our last sat two connecting flights were a problem. We went to curaçao and connected home through Charlotte. We missed our flight to Philadelphia but luckily there was one more that night. Two weeks later, we flew from st Lucia to Charlotte to Philadelphia. The connections were fine, but it took them 50 minutes to get the luggage out and we were the only flight in both B/C terminals arriving around midnight, so they weren't busy. I ended up filing a complaint online and received a refund for our two checked bags which paid for our extra bag this trip and a drink.
