Jet Blue in June or July
Hi Folks,
My wife and I are planning our trip to Aruba this summer after school ends. We have always flown American but are thinking about Jet Blue. I know that they haven't released fares for that time. I have been checking their fares as far out as I can. I'm wondering if you experts out there think that the fares over the summer will be about the same as they are now. Americans schedule really does not thrill me. Jet Blue looks better. Also do you get tv reception on the plane all the way to Aruba. We are not sure if we should wait for Jet Blue or book with america. Thanks for your help. We will fly from either Boston or JFK. Peter Last edited by PeterK; 09-26-2009 at 10:50 PM. |

you do get tv reception for the entire way...............that being said the direct tv channels fade quite fast and the tv then only has the few movies available.
still MORE selection than AA i still find jet blue's pricing higher than american (we fly boston or portland to aruba) from boston or jfk you should be able to get a r/t pp ticket on AA for less than $500 pp from boston orjfk that price on jet blue may be a little higher than what AA offers. if it were i, i'd go with AA. andrea |

jfk to aua is usually less than 500 during most of the year. its usually 199-249 each way. when prices do drop they go for 119-159 each way.
the tv works for only 2 hours max - it cuts off when you fly over the ocean. |

they do have the movies but no tv service while flying over the ocean. however, on your return flight you will get about 3 hours of tv service. they fly closer to the coastline so it picks up the reception.

Out of JFK, we had the Satellite TV for like 1.5 hrs. But they do provide FREE movies, I think 3 to pick from.
On the way home, I don't remember when the TV came back on. We originally booked American, but after they canceled my departure from JFK, then changed the time for the departure back home, I decided to go with Jet Blue. The fares may be slightly higher. But since I travel with my 2 young children, the TV is great for them, even if just the movie. Also the seats are wider and more legroom than American. Top that with D&D Coffee and free snacks, I found it the way to go. I live in Jersey, but I go to JFK for the flight, cheaper than Newark. I am going again in July, and waiting for the tickets to become available. |

I agree!
I could have gotten Continental out of Newark already. Price will prob be the same or little more for Jet Blue, I hope! But the planes are nicer IMO. Even going out of JFK vs Newark for me, only little more travel time. I take a car service so not really a big deal! |
