I paid $500 pp for mid april round trip, southwest.
Just looking back over the last three years' ticket purchases (travel in 2014, '15, '16).
In late spring/early summer, I start checking JB daily.
For a non-stop flight from Boston to Aruba the end of January (Week #4), I have found there is a significant price drop at the end of August. I have made the last three purchases from 8/26-8/30.
For a non-stop flight from Aruba to Boston the beginning of February (Week #5), the price drop doesn't happen until Mid-November. I have made purchases between 11/10-11/14.
Purchasing the two legs of the trip separately has made sense. In August, when the first leg is low, the second leg is super high. Not sure why this happens but as long as you know, you can deal with it.
Good for you, AndyM. My hat's off to you.....you have to have ice water in your veins to play the airfare game.

Last minute decision, JetBlue, R/T(non-stop) from JFK to AUA, 1/1- 1/5...$600 pp. Being the holiday season did not think that was too bad. Bully already contacted and secured. Happy New Years to us !!!!!!!!!!!!
We always book in June or July when Jet Blue opens up till Feb of the next year.Non stop from Boston .We pick the seats and used to see if the rates went down. Now you only have 30 days according to jet blue to have the money credited .To much stress with the first 4 weeks at Costa Linda and wating for a better price.Extra legroom is now $160 round trip.Regular was in june $730 round trip.
