    Kudos to Jet Blue

After arriving on Dec. 4th on the FDNY all RED Jet Blue aircraft from JFK, very nice by the way, we figured our trip was starting out on a high note. The trip...another thread. When attempting to depart on Dec. 9th., well here we go. As we took off we struck a very large bird, rumor mill has it as a Pelican. It really felt like we hit a vehicle or something of that size. The puree process was surely quick and I am sure he didnt suffer....much. The Captain did an amazing job and we came to a rather quick stop, I would say the impact was just as the front wheels were being lifted off the ground. After further inspection of the engine they deemed this plane a no flysky. Jet Blue had 3 buses waiting for us outside and shuttled everyone back to the Holiday Inn with food vouchers for the night, we were back on the beach by 3:30. Not bad ! Smooth transition into the hotel and an early morning pick up and were were on our way the next day by 11 ish. Except for the few people I heard grumbling they were originally at the Hyatt, It was quite a Happy group !!!! Kudos to you Jet Blue !!!! Only thing missing was DRINK vouchers !!!!!!!

Were people rattled? I'm know my husband would have been. It certainly sounds like Jet Blue did a good job handling the situation. Don't think I would have been unhappy with an extra night in Aruba!!

I have to say it was a relatively easy going crowd, once they determined there was not going to be a delay , but rather a sleep - over, everyone started chiming in the "it is was it is" motto. A few phone calls to babysitters, relatives, work and all that other fun stuff and then it seemed like everyone just pulled up the boot straps and made the best of it. (cpjones)Coming from the Tam so we were not used to the high prices for libations, a quick trip to the local Bodega took care of that, even the bartenders at the Holiday Inn knew our story and was hooking us up with ice and glasses knowing we were BYO'ing it...........One Friggin Happy Island !!!!!!!!!!!!

What an experience, I would be rattled, but thankful that no one was hurt. Way to go Jet Blue, sounds like they treated you right. It's kind of nice that you got a change of scenery for your extra night too. My husband wants to know did you have to go back through Aruba immigration before boarding the buses back to Holiday Inn? He's just curious how that works.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Jet Blue shuffled everyone through immigration without questions, right to baggage claim. The next day we had to do the whole process over but it was no biggie at all. All the duty free purchases were put inside checked luggage and JB did not not sweat over the "Heavy" bags. As far as suffering the extra night..........lets just say I took one for the TEAM !!!!!!!!!!
