Luggage scales beware....

Just a word of caution for those depending on the luggage scales...
Our old one broke so we purchased a new one. We verified all the weights with the new scale and backed it up using the bathroom scale. We marked all of our tags with the poundage. Thought everything was hunky dorey....WRONG....packed to return home and arrived with our 6 lg. suitcases at the aruba airport...all were 4 lbs off...Looks like we can't depend on our new scale now....We were a sight at the airport moving clothes around.

I got a Balanzza for up to 100 lbs and it works great. The only problem is I had one bag at 49 lbs and I checked it to be told it was 10 lbs over. I was in shock and started mentally trying to figure out what to pull out of the suitcase without creating a scene. Then my DH confessed that he had put in all of his work items in one of the pockets. Problem solved. For us it was the DH to blame and not the scale. Hmmmm... I wonder if I can return him LOL

We used to use from Magellan's
Luggage Scale
$9.85
Our portable Luggage Scale can save you hundreds of dollars in airline surcharges.

and then upgraded to digital
Easy-Grip Luggage Scale
$24.85
Prevent overweight luggage surcharges.

So far so good for us, will let you know how we make out in June. We always cut it tight.

yes they do CHEAT
on apr 28 at bangor international we checked 2 suitcases

weighed them both at home and they were 38 and 40 lbs

got to check in at usairways express at bangor and they each weighed in at 55

i gave the guy a look asked hi to step away and we put them on again 36 and 38 lbs, so my reply was to get the supervisor. i told him what we observed and that we were PO'D.

so yes i think there are a few unscrupulous folks there that do PAD the scales
