Pets As Checked Baggage
Requirements & Restrictions -- there are MANY of them Year-round Restrictions Delta will not accept animals as checked baggage during extreme weather ... if at any point during the animal's trip the temperature is forecast to be: Above 75° Fahrenheit (24°C) for snub- or pug-nosed dogs and cats. See chart 85° Fahrenheit (29.4°C) for all other breeds. __________________________________________________ I cannot think of many days in Aruba where the forecast calls for temperatures BELOW 85° F

Alrighty...
Just read all the threads here on the topic and am still a bit confused...wondering if some of you Aruba experts could help me out... So, the wife an I will relocate to Aruba from China, we are spending a month in the US. We have four cats and flew from China to the US without a problem. We shipped them as cargo. If I understood everything written here properly, the issue is: 1-I can't ship them as cargo because the chances of the temperature being higher than 85F are very high 2-I can't take more than 1 of them per person in the cabin, and they must fit the tiny little container specification It looks to me we like will probably need to fly twice in order to relocate all of them? Is there anyone here who has ever shipped their pets as cargo to Aruba? Perhaps arriving at a night flight would help? I think United did pretty fine with the felines before, but wondering if you would recommend another airline? Let's assume I can fly from anywhere and use any airline, which one should I pick? Thanks in advance... |

My husband and I are moving at the end of the month.
I am taking my small dog inside the plane. I am using American Airlines. On some airlines, I think you can have up to two pets per container...inside the cabin if they are small enough to fit in that tiny container under the seat together. Because of the temperature restrictions, my husband cannot ship his large dog as checked baggage. He is going through a private commercial shipper and having the dog shipped in a climate controlled/air conditioned cargo plane. It is very expensive though... Also, we checked on night flights...and the only one I found is on American Airlines out of Miami. It was better for my husband to just use the shipper instead of figuring out how to get the dog to Miami. Last edited by BentleysMom; 07-13-2011 at 12:41 PM. Reason: Addl info |
