This never happened to me before?
We booked our airfare through Continental wayyyy back in May. Our trip is in April. At the time I thought the airfare was a decent price and we booked. Just checked now and its down almost $50 a person. Are we entitled to a credit for our airfare or is what you pay at the time final?

All of the airlines seem to be changing their policies lately so it depends on CO's current policy. Some airlines will give you a credit in the form of a voucher and some will make you pay a change fee first to get the credit (sometimes the change fee is too high so there ends up being no credit at all.)
Best thing for you to do is call CO.

We booked our daughter's flight for Christmas from Atl to Aruba back in October on Delta. The fare is now $400 less online. Called Delta and got a credit voucher but they made us pay the change fee even though the itinerary is exactly the same! What's up with that, Delta? Must have changed their policy about getting the lowest fare if the price is lowered. Things that make you go hmmm...
