I always check my bags. The only problem I have is with my fishing pole which I don't want to check, don't need it broken. I have gotten some good stares when I tell them that it fits the coat closet standing up, it will fit the overhead also, if it's not packed to the gills. Any carry on we have are small, so no biggie for us.

Gaby - my husband is always the one reminding me that we are boarding and that's our section they called or our letter or whatever the airlines uses to call groups up. Then gets frustrated when people from other groups are getting up when their section hasn't been called yet. Really? lol If I have to sit for hours I want to stand/walk as much as possible up until the very last second I can. Besides the fact that I'm not the best flyer....

Boy this is a hot topic and I understand why. We always pay for premier seating just to try to get our carry-on in the overhead bin that is above our seats. I can't tell you how many times it has not worked as the exit row people take our bin before we can. It is terrible when everyone is getting off and you need to get your overhead bag from behind you. I get upset when people take oversized bags on and I blame the airlines for not enforcing this. I never understand why they let these oversized bags on they are so strict on everything else. My DH says we are checking our bag this year that we usually put overhead just to avoid any stress. I will just have my carry on for under my seat and a large purse. Sure hope I fit everything I need to in (lol). I recently read Delta is going to "try out" a new system at some airports where they put the overhead bags in before the passengers board to see if it saves any time, this will be interesting to see if it does, I think it will and this way everyone's bags should be above their seats. Either way I guess I won't need to worry about it this year will be checking all bags except for under seat bags.

When we fly on our flight home, I check as much as we can for reasonable fees. I would rather check bags than drag them around the airport. But the way there is a doffered story. We have had a bag not make our connection before and get delayed by a day and ever since I alays worry about things getting lost.. If it was my husband, no big deal we have trip insurance, we can just get him some new stuff and he will be happy as a clam. But on our flight to Aruba, I make sure to have bathing suits and some of my clothes in a carryon. If my bag gets lost, it's not always easy to find plus size clothing or bathing suits that I am comfortable wearing, so it's important for me to be able to carry on so I know I at least have a few things I like to get by. But we always follow our airlines rules and even had to buy new carry-ons last year because we were off by an inch. It drives me nuts watching people with over sized bags or putting their carryon and personal item both in the overhead rather than under the seat. The airlines should have better enforcement but really people should have more common courtesy and not be all me me me.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Could you imagine how much nicer life would be? On flights and in general!

I'm dying to do this one time. As I get to my row and there is luggage already in the space and no other people in the surrounding area, I tell a flight attendant that "someone has left their luggage in the overhead from the previous flight and could they remove it". LOL

This is the reason I like to sit up front..
I usually check everything in and only carry on a large purse type bag (all my purse's are little.... enough to hold my license, credit card and debit card.
for meds, camera's and etc. On the return trip I wrap all my camera's and other stuff in t-shirts... stuff them between clothes.
The less I have to lug around or should say Lou had to caddy for me the better.

bardy.... cameras and other electronics in checked bags are chancey.
if the checked bag is lost or stolen or contents stolen, there is no recourse/reimbursement, as they are not covered on any insurance or airline coverage.

Very True !! Sometimes I trust people too much. Husband tells me not "everyone is like me honest and trust worthy"
Guess I just except people to be like that. Need to learn to keep my guard up more !!!
Cause I know there are people out there that aren't so nice... and this is not the perfect world. sad but not.
